FIRST SHOW // NEW EP OUT NOW
We played our first show, last Friday, at the Song, by Toad Xmas bash. It went quite well I think. Good crowd, bands, and venue. Thanks to everyone who helped make it a fine evening. The photo below was taken at the show; that’s me, with no head. We also launched our new EP, Repulsive Sunsets on the night. If you weren’t there, you can buy one at a record shop, or right HERE. Thanks.

THE PARTY'S OVER
I sometimes get asked why the album is called The Party’s Over. On the first version of the album, the final song was called ‘The Party’s Over’. The song ultimately didnt make the cut and was replaced by ‘Closing Time’, but the album title remained. Here’s a short demo of the track if you fancy a listen. I think it’s lost for good now, with the...

Thanks to everyone who has helped out over the past twelve months, from a generous word to a kind purchase it is all appreciated. Festive wishes to one and all.
LUNCH WITH FANTE
There is a song on my album called ‘Fante’s Last Stand’. It was inspired by an article I read on John Fante writing his final book. Somehow this song made its way to Malibu, California, and a couple of weeks ago I received a lovely message from Victoria Fante, daughter of John. Victoria said she heard the song, and enjoyed it very much. She also said she would be making her...

NEW (FREE) EP: SOME CALL IT HELL, BUT IT'S HOME
Well I first recorded a bunch of acoustic songs on a four track to listen back and get a feel for where they should go. I then tried to re-record them with more guitars, vocals, harmonicas, melodicas, percussion… but they didn’t really improve on the rough demos. So here are three of those songs, complete with tape-hiss, scuffs, fumbles and additional vocals on Riverbank from a seagull...
THREE NEW RELEASES ON THE WAY
After much faffing, deliberating and city-hopping in recent months I can now give some details on my upcoming releases - in reverse order: My album, The Party’s Over will be released June 13th on Song, By Toad Records. Thanks to The List, Peenko and Kowalskiy for including me in their tips for 2011 lists. I’ll do my best folks. We have a nice little mention in in Appetite for Distraction too and do listen to Toadcast #155 to find out what goodies Song, By Toad Records are putting out this year. Incidentally, my album is finished and will be out later in the year. Cheers.
A FREE TRACK FOR CHRISTMAS
DISCLAIMER: This song has absolutely nothing to do with Christmas. More a wee acoustic song that doesn’t really fit with anything. Maybe you’ll like it though. It’s free too. Give it to a friend for Christmas and save yourself some money. Get it HERE. Merry Christmas to you.
CHANGES / WINTER / ALBUM
Well it has been an eventful few weeks for many reasons not least of which heading north to the lovely scenes below. Perfect conditions to finish of an album though, which is 99% done in case you’re wondering. In between times Ive been reading Lykke Li Letters which is pretty great. Have a read
NEW MUSIC (DEMONSTRATION)
If you’d like to hear a demo of a song which may or may not be on my upcoming album, listen to the latest podcast (fishcast) at Song, By Toad. Even if you don’t want to hear the demo, listen anyway. MORE RECORDING AND STUFF
That’s my guitar down there. I’m not some guitar geek but I did just bust a string and thought I’d fill the break in recording with a blog post. Anyway, I’d guess the album is around fifty percent finished. My intention was to write some sort of recording diary as it’s the kind of thing I like to read myself, but to be honest I think it would be a little boring. I...
RECORDING AND OTHER MATTERS
Below is a picture of my recording studio, and when I say recording studio I mean my house. I’ll be busy in this ‘studio’ for some weeks recording an album and unfortunately for my neighbours I tend to work best late in the evening and early in the morning. If you’re bored today you should listen to PodcART Episode 74. There’s much good music on there, and sweary...

SONG BY TOAD REVIEW
Nice review from the folks at Song By Toad “Well well well, this is extremely good indeed. King Post Kitsch is an exiled Weegie currently residing in London, and was recommended to me by Lloyd from Peenko. I’ve been a little slow on that count, I suppose, because everyone and their blogger seems to have been chattering about this EP for a while now actually, but er… well, you know how...
